Equipment – Lavalier Microphone

Lavalier or “Lapelle”

This type of microphone can be used for interviews, because they focus on the voice of the speaker and limit the ambience sound.

The secondary function of the microphone is to be used for short films due to the clear vocals that are needed.

With this type of microphone, we need to be careful with the surrounding areas where it rests; these can be anatomical or costume-based. Also, items around the neck and on the chest may interfere with the sound being picked up by the lapelle.

Zoom H1 (Link to Instruction Manuel Included)

This device is a sound/voice recorder that allows us to capture sound/audio from a conversation or interview. This device is helpful in podcasts for voice and foley sounds. If you can see the mesh, then the sound produced will be of good quality.

The H1 device is and held, it can also be placed in pockets, or similar. It is the responsibility of the crew, to hide the cables and the recording devices from the camera, especially in short films. The cable must be hidden underneath the actor/actresses clothing (permission required, obviously). H1 works with common headphones and microphones.

Mini Jack – Lines 2 are for audio (Stereo Sound), 1 line is for only one sound (Mono) and 3 lines means that it is a “SMART” device.
